Burning Man: Fire and Flames for the Ages
Freedom, happiness, incredulity – eight days of Burning Man for the ages. This unbelievable arts festival in the Nevada desert will burn itself into your soul and stay for a lifetime. An indescribable, fascinating experience. This festival was held for the first time in 1986 on a San Francisco beach – with twenty participants. Today, the mix of art exhibition, a paradise of self-expression, and a huge party attracts over 70,000 people to the Black Rock Desert near Las Vegas every September. The event lasts eight days and traditionally ends on Labor Day, the first Monday in September. The highlight is the burning of the wooden sculpture, The Man, on the sixth day.
Electric Daisy Carnival: Plenty of Love for Electronic Music
The clubs and discos of the big Las Vegas resorts are equipped with the very best high tech equipment. The hottest DJs and megastars perform here on a recurring basis. At the EDC, everyone and everything meets up over three days at the Motor Speedway, a gigantic car racing stadium. The shows are unique – a perfect combination of light, beats, video, and dance. At this mix of open air, giant rave, techno parade, carnival, Woodstock, and giant sculpture exhibition, there are attractions on all fronts – virtually around the clock. Boredom and sleep take a back seat to fun and exuberance. Between the huge dance floors, Carnival Square and Rainbow Road will entice you with their rides and booths. All in all: a gigantic experience! Big, bigger, EDC!
Life is Beautiful Festival: Soak up the Unique Atmosphere
Another festival that has been an integral part of Las Vegas since 2013 is the Life is Beautiful Festival. For 3 days in September, downtown Las Vegas is transformed into a colourful centre full of music, art, and culinary delights. The line-up consistently features hot artists like Major Lazer, Imagine Dragons, Calvin Harris, Kygo, Kendrick Lamar, and many more. In addition to good music, the festival also presents unique artwork by both local and international artists, entertaining stand-up comedy shows, panel discussions, and many culinary highlights. There really is something for everyone!
Rise Festival: Anything but Ordinary
If you and your family are in Las Vegas and are looking for a “quieter” festival, we can highly recommend the Rise Festival. Since 2014, tens of thousands of lanterns have been released into the night sky 40 km outside of Las Vegas (in the Mojave Desert). The festival kicks off in the afternoon with good food, refreshing drinks, and high-energy live music. Then, as soon as the sun sets, the lanterns are prepared to rise at a set time. The sight of thousands of lanterns rising into the night sky simultaneously is breathtaking and definitely worth a visit.
