Swimming, splashing, relaxing – the best beaches in Olbia and the surrounding area
The Olbia region boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the whole of Sardinia. Whether it’s lively coves or peaceful retreats – the beaches, with their light, fine sand and crystal-clear water, invite you to switch off from everyday life and enjoy that pure holiday feeling.
Pittulongu Beach, Sardinia’s swimming paradise
One of the most popular beaches around Olbia is Pittulongu Beach, with its fine white sand and access to turquoise waters. It is regarded as Olbia’s local beach and, thanks to its shallow waters, is particularly popular with families. There are plenty of restaurants and beach bars where you can grab a bite to eat whilst at the beach, and the view of the offshore island of Tavolara adds a real touch of Sardinian charm.
Porto Istana, the postcard beach
With stunning views of Tavolara Island, Porto Istana is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Located north-east of Olbia, the beach is stunning with its gleaming sand and crystal-clear water. Several small coves add variety and make the beach an attractive destination for those seeking relaxation, as well as for families and snorkelling enthusiasts.
Cala Brandinchi, the “Tahiti of Sardinia”
Cala Brandinchi enchants holidaymakers with its powder-soft sand and shallow, bright turquoise waters. The lagoon-like atmosphere makes for a relaxing swim and is also extremely popular with families. Thanks to the many small restaurants and beach bars nearby, there is always the option of a refreshment or a snack.
La Cinta, the endless sandy beach
La Cinta boasts a kilometre-long beach of fine sand, which is perfect for long walks. Sports enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy on the expansive beach, lapped by shallow water: you can go on a pedal boat ride or try your hand at kite-surfing. A variety of beach bars and restaurants cater for your dining needs along the beach.
Enjoy peace and quiet at Cala Moresca
The beach at the unspoilt bay of Cala Moresca offers a peaceful atmosphere that is perfect for relaxing. Surrounded by rock formations and a pine forest, the clear water invites you in to swim and snorkel. The beach is an about two-kilometre walk from the car park. There are no places to eat in the immediate vicinity, so it’s a good idea to bring a picnic for your day at the beach.
Pure bathing pleasure at Cala Sassari
Cala Sassari delights beachgoers with its combination of a relaxed atmosphere and comfort. The fine sand and the gently sloping, turquoise waters are perfect for swimming and relaxing, whilst beach bars and restaurants offer a wide range of culinary delights. There are also parking facilities near the beach, making it easy to get there.
Le Saline, Mecca for kite-surfers
A fresh breeze often blows on Le Saline Beach, attracting kite-surfers in particular. However, the light-coloured, sometimes coarse-grained sand and the water in several shades of blue and green are not only ideal for wind sports, but also for long walks. Since the beach is less crowded with tourists, you can enjoy pleasantly quiet beach days there.
Sparkling: Spiaggia Bianca
Almost white sand and crystal-clear water meet here. The wonderful atmosphere, easy access and a variety of beach bars and restaurants make the beach a popular destination for families and anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing day at the beach. However, parking near the beach can fill up quickly, especially in high season.
