From James Bond Island to Patong
Phuket’s best-known landmarks include Wat Chalong, the largest temple on the island, and, of course, several highly acclaimed movie sets. Among these are James Bond Island at Phang Nga Bay, where scenes from ”The Man with the Golden Gun“ were filmed, and Maya Bay on the Phi Phi Islands which provided the setting for “The Beach“.
If hustle and bustle is more your thing, then Patong Beach is sure to deliver just that. Lined with over 600 restaurants, bars and clubs, it is also the heart of Phuket’s nightlife scene. And in the midst of it all stands a Muay Thai stadium where shows of this traditional combat sport are performed every evening.
Elephant riding and island hopping
The island also caters to sports enthusiasts, with anything from climbing and cycling tours, through to water skiing, jet skiing and scuba diving on offer. And how about venturing into the jungle - in a jeep or on the back of an elephant?
Phuket is also a great starting point for island hopping to other isles in the area, or to popular holiday destinations such as Krabi. This Thai province entices with charming bays and bathing islets. Needless to say, trips can be extended to cover the entire country or even the whole of Southeast Asia. Be ready to enjoy plenty of cinema-worthy holiday moments!
