It is a place for those who love architecture, while also being a masterpiece in its own right that still characterises the city today. Just a few minutes away by foot is the historic old town.     The historic market hall of the extensive Mercado de la Ribera has managed to survive for several centuries. Even today, it still forms an integral part of the locals’ daily lives.   • Guggenheim Museum

  • Puente de Vizcaya
    The Puente de Vizcaya is a very special UNESCO World heritage site in this city. The oldest suspended ferry in the world has been taking foot passengers and vehicles back and forth across the river since 1893.   • View over the City
    The Funicular de Artxanda takes you up to the local mountain of the same name. It is the perfect spot to be – especially at sunset – to enjoy a wonderful view of Bilbao. View in Maps

    Bilbao is also a culinary dream. Start at the Plaza Nueva and let yourself drift through the old town. In between, make a stop at one of the many restaurants and bars, enjoy a drink and a few pintxos (snacks). View in Maps
  • Gaztelugatxe
    Many ‘Game of Thrones’ fans are likely to be familiar with Gaztelugatxe. Just a 45-minute drive from Bilbao, it served as a filming location for the 7th season. You will have to climb 241 steps to get to the seafarers’ chapel San Juan on the Gaztelugatxe peninsula. View in Maps
