CEO of Edelweiss to additionally become CEO of Eurowings Discover
Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss, will take over the position of CEO of Eurowings. Discover in Germany in addition to his previous duties. Edelweiss and Eurowings Discover retain their independence. Expansion of the Lufthansa Group's tourism competence.
Edelweiss and Eurowings Discover, the two holiday airlines of the Lufthansa Group, will further expand their tourism competence. To this end, both airlines will have a joint CEO: Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss since 2014, will take over the post of CEO of Eurowings Discover in Germany on October 1, 2022, in addition to his current position. The management team of Eurowings Discover will thus be strengthened and expanded. Both companies will remain independent in the future.
Edelweiss has a large and decades-long experience in the tourism sector. It is the leading Swiss holiday airline. The development of Eurowings Discover in Germany was conceived on its model. Eurowings Discover, which was founded during the Corona pandemic, has experienced rapid growth and successfully positioned itself in the market.
Together with the management teams in Zurich at Edelweiss and in Frankfurt at Eurowings Discover, Bernd Bauer is to further accelerate the expansion of the Lufthansa Group's offering in the tourism segment. At Edelweiss, David Birrer remains Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Accountable Manager, and Patrick Heymann Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of the company. At Eurowings Discover, Wolfgang Raebiger will concentrate on the role of COO and Accountable Manager, while Helmut Wölfel will remain CCO.
Edelweiss and Eurowings Discover focus on tourist destinations on short, medium and long-haul routes. They thus complement the network airlines' offerings. Edelweiss flies from Zurich, Eurowings Discover from Frankfurt and Munich. Both companies will retain their independence and continue to operate under their familiar names in their respective markets.
