Spain and Greece  most popular this summer

Edelweiss is offering 55 holiday destinations worldwide from Zurich at the start of the summer holidays. The short- and medium-haul offer includes 48 holiday destinations in 17 countries. On short-haul routes, Edelweiss has the same amount of capacity on offer as in the pre-Corona summer of 2019. On long-haul routes, Edelweiss is flying to seven holiday destinations in six countries this summer.

In addition to the existing holiday destinations, Edelweiss has added six new destinations to its route network this summer. From July, flights will be operated to Montego Bay in Jamaica and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. Also from July, there will be flights to Reykjavik/Keflavik in Iceland, Preveza/Lefkada and Skiathos in Greece as well as Tivat in Montenegro. The flights can be booked on flyedelweiss.com and through all the usual sales channels.

Spain and Greece are most popular this summer

Since the abolition of the previous FOPH risk country list, bookings for the summer holidays have increased many times over. Patrick Heymann, Chief Commercial Officer of Edelweiss, confirms this: "We see a great need among the Swiss population for holidays abroad. Due to the increasing demand, we have decided to fly to popular holiday destinations several times a day or with a larger type of aircraft."

This summer's most popular holiday destinations are Heraklion/Crete (Greece), followed by Ibiza (Spain), Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Mykonos (Greece) and Tenerife (Spain). The most popular long-haul destination this summer is Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Travel preparation is even more important this year than in the past

A new and comprehensive source of inspiration for holiday planning is provided by Edelweiss' revamped website. "We have redesigned the Edelweiss holiday destinations website from the ground up, offering useful information, exciting stories and fascinating videos of the destinations. This makes the search for the right holiday destination even more exciting and easier," says Patrick Heymann.

Information regarding entry requirements at the destination is also particularly important at this time. Although entry for most countries in Europe has been made much easier in recent days, a negative PCR test is still required in many countries. Edelweiss is simplifying travel planning with two new services. From now on, you can buy a PCR test approved for travelling at home via the Edelweiss website. In addition, all Edelweiss guests have access to an extended range of information for each holiday destination with the most important Covid 19 regulations and local testing options. All information is available on flyedelweiss.com.
