Edelweiss to offer flights to the Seychelles, Sri Lanka and Vietnam starting in 2018

Edelweiss, Switzerland’s leading leisure travel airline, is going east. The carrier will expand its long-haul route network with flights to the Seychelles, Colombo/Sri Lanka and Ho Chi Minh City/Vietnam in 2018. This will coincide with an increase of flight frequencies to various other long-haul destinations.

The addition of the Seychelles to the Edelweiss route network will offer passengers the opportunity to discover a further holiday destination in the Indian Ocean. Featuring miles of white-sand beaches and crystal-clear water, this stunning archipelago has what it takes for a dream holiday. Starting on 22nd September 2018, Edelweiss will operate one weekly direct flight from Zurich to the Seychelles.

As of mid-November 2018. Edelweiss will start flight services to Ho Chi Minh City. Considered one of the most multifaceted countries in Asia, Vietnam is a choice destination for breathtaking tours through beautiful landscapes and fascinating cities. Ho Chi Minh City will be served with two weekly direct flights, starting on 15th November 2018.

Just a few weeks ago, Edelweiss announced that it will operate direct flights to Buenos Aires/Argentina starting in winter 2018. The airline’s latest expansion will up the total of Edelweiss dream destinations to 66 in 32 countries.

Edelweiss’s expanded route network will also include Sri Lanka, which will be served with two weekly direct flights from Zurich to Colombo. Sri Lanka is a very popular travel destination with a plethora of opportunities for beach, culture and action-filled holidays. Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss: “We have expanded our route network in North, Central and South America over the past few years. We are now delighted to expand our network in Asia, and to offer our passengers flights to three new dream destinations in the East.” All of the travel classes feature a modern inflight entertainment system with large HD touchscreens and a choice of 180 movies and TV programmes, music channels and games. The above offer is valid exclusively for flights conducted by Edelweiss or Swiss. It is not valid for codeshare or combination flights with other airlines.

The new holiday destinations of Edelweiss will be served with the recently converted Airbus A340 that seats 314 passengers. Business Class is equipped with 27 seats that can be easily converted into two-metre-long beds. Economy Max encompasses 76 seats with 15 cm more seat pitch and more backrest recline. Economy Class comprises 211 comfortable latest-generation seats that provide for a relaxing and carefree travel experience.

More flights to long-haul destinations in 2018

Starting in winter 2018/19, Edelweiss will also increase its flight frequencies to several popular holiday destinations, offering passengers even more flexibility in their holiday planning.

Carriage of sports baggage for free on all Edelweiss flights

With immediate effect, sports baggage up to 23 kg travels for free on any Edelweiss flight. Sports fans who also want to be active on holiday can do so with their favourite sports equipment. Starting on 1st December 2017, Edelweiss passengers can take their surfboards, diving equipment, golf equipment or bicycles up to 23 kg with them for free on all Edelweiss flights.
