Enjoy new holiday destinations, experience new website

From spring 2016, the leading Swiss holiday airline will be flying to Rio de Janeiro and Calgary. The fresh Edelweiss website can already be experienced today, with many innovative new features awaiting its visitors.


Rio de Janeiro and Calgary as of spring 2016

Edelweiss is expanding its route network and will be flying twice a week to Rio de Janeiro from 25 April 2016. The Brazilian metropolis has something to offer for every holiday need: The legendary Carnival nights with rousing samba, the Copacabana or landmarks such as Sugar Loaf Mountain and Corcovado with the statue of Christ. "The world will be looking to Rio de Janeiro next year because of the 2016 Summer Olympics and Edelweiss will offer the direct flight from Switzerland" says Alain Chisari, Chief Commercial Officer of Edelweiss. "Rio de Janeiro is definitely worth a trip and can be perfectly combined with flights to and from São Paulo operated by our sister airline SWISS."

Due to high demand, another seasonal holiday destination will be added to the flight schedule again next year. From the beginning of June until the end of September 2016, Edelweiss will be flying twice a week non-stop from Zurich to the Canadian city of Calgary.

All flights will be bookable from June 2015 in every travel agency, on swiss.com and flyedelweiss.com.

flyedelweiss.com becomes an online world of experience

The Edelweiss website has been completely redesigned. Flyedelweiss.com is now free of ballast and features a fresh, modern design and simple user guidance. The focus of the new Edelweiss website is on over 40 holiday destinations, which are presented extensively and in detail. The destinations can also be filtered according to interests, preferences or flight time. Inspiring pictures, useful information and selected tips from TripAdvisor now make it even easier to find the perfect destination for the best time of the year. The entire booking process on flyedelweiss.com has also been made easier and clearer, so that you can book your flight with just a few clicks.

Thanks to the new website's responsive design, Edelweiss and its holiday destinations can now be experienced in the same fascinating way on desktop, tablet and smartphone. With the "Experience" section, an innovative brand experience platform was created that is unique for an airline. The user follows the position of the sun, discovers holiday destinations in the respective compass direction, can track flights in real time and encounters the latest social media posts about Edelweiss. With coherent short films in which people reflect on their feelings and memories, wishes and dreams on the flight to their holiday destination, "Experience" becomes a unique experience for an airline.
