Edelweiss offers its own airline pilot training programme

In cooperation with Swiss Aviation Training (SAT), Edelweiss is introducing an "ab initio" commercial pilot training programme from autumn 2014. What is new is that Edelweiss will supervise the future pilots during their training, guarantee them employment if they perform well and contribute to the costs.

"We want to offer young professionals very good quality training. For us, this new training offer is not only a safeguard for our junior cockpit staff, but also means an investment in Swiss aviation," says Christoph Zogg, Chief Operating Officer of Edelweiss. "We are hoping for well-qualified young cockpit pilots for Edelweiss and in return guarantee the graduates a permanent position in a dynamic and successful company," Zogg continued.

After passing the multi-stage selection process, graduates attend the approximately 2-year commercial pilot training course at Swiss Aviation Training (SAT). After successful completion of the training, they are transferred to Edelweiss and trained on the Airbus fleet. Edelweiss contributes approx. 40% of the total costs and grants candidates an interest-free loan to pre-finance the training.

The new "ab initio" commercial pilot training at Edelweiss is aimed at interested persons with Swiss nationality, C permanent residence permit or citizens of the EU-25/EFTA who are between 20 - 30 years old. The minimum requirement is a completed secondary school/general university entrance qualification or at least 3 years of basic vocational training with a federal certificate of proficiency (EFZ) as well as 1 year of professional experience/internship or studies.
