Edelweiss recommendation

Northern Sardinia is home to the most beautiful golf courses in Italy and Europe. The courses are moderately busy all year round and it is usually also possible to book at short notice. The golf region around Cagliari in the south forms an interesting contrast to the sophisticated north of Sardinia. The golf courses are all exposed to the mistral or sirocco winds, so wind stoppers and jumpers are a must in your luggage.

Golf History

The game of golf found its way to Sardinia towards the end of the 1960s, when English, American and Saudi investors discovered the island for themselves. Today, around the main town of Cagliari, there are around eight golf courses that meet international standards and offer a wide range of activities for golfers from near and far.

Top Golf Courses in Sardinia

Pevero Golf Club

The Pevero Golf Club in Porto Cervo (only 20 kilometres from Olbia) is one of the highlights for golfers. It offers 18 championship holes and is a par 72 with a length of 6107 metres - a challenging golf course! The world-famous golf course was the venue of the Italian Open in 1978. A fantastic view awaits you at hole 6 and hole 16, known as the James Bond hole. Wide fairways and numerous changes of direction make the course interesting, not to mention the wind conditions, which play an important factor and offer quite a challenge.

Golf Club Puntaldia

Surrounded by a host of charming bays and featuring lovely views of Tavolara Island, the Golf Club Puntaldia in San Teodoro is set in a dazzling location on the Mediterranean coast. The 9-hole golf course (par 30) spans 3668 yards (3354 m). The tee-offs are precision-demanding and offer an exciting challenge for golfers of all levels of play.

Is Molas Golf Resort

The largest golf course in Sardinia and one of the most famous courses in all of Italy is located about 40 kilometres west of Cagliari in a dreamlike location at the Is Molas Resort. The proximity to the sea and the protection of the surrounding hills allow for a mild microclimate all year round, which is perfect for golf. The championship course Is Molas, with its 18 holes, is considered one of the most technically satisfying and spectacular courses not only in Italy, but in the entire Mediterranean region. It has hosted many prestigious golf tournaments. If you are in the mood for more, it is best to stay on site in one of the resort's modernly furnished rooms.
