Discover the Must-Sees of Florida
St. Pete/Clearwater
St. Pete/Clearwater is a sparkling jewel on the Florida Gulf Coast and a highlight of any Florida round trip. The region offers the perfect ingredients for your holiday: America's best beaches, a vibrant arts scene, fantastic outdoor experiences for the whole family and outstanding gastronomy. And best of all, you can reach the enchanting beaches in just 30 minutes by car from Tampa Airport.
Everglades National Park
The breathtaking flora and fauna of the Everglades is THE natural highlight of Florida and a dream come true for of every nature lover who visits it. On the popular tours with the famous hovercrafts, you will experience the mangrove and swamp landscape with its countless animal species up close. Observe numerous types of birds and even alligators and crocodiles gliding in the water. In addition to the popular boat tours, hiking tours through the wetland are also offered.
Miami
This American city with Cuban flair is located at the southern tip of Florida and offers numerous attractions. The gorgeous white sandy beach and the turquoise blue water in South Beach alone are worth a visit. This beach, located directly on Ocean Drive, owes its worldwide fame to numerous TV shows and movies. The Art Deco District with its beautiful, bright, and colorful facades is considered another sight of Miami. Furthermore, we recommend a trip to Little Havana. In this district you will experience the Cuban heart of the city.
Fort Lauderdale
With over 450 kilometres of waterways, Fort Lauderdale is considered the Venice of the USA. You can explore the channels and pass by chic marinas, villas, and mangroves comfortably either by boat/water taxi or - more sportsman like – on a standup paddleboard. Furthermore, the beautiful beach, the multitude of shopping opportunities, and great restaurants make the city something special.
Kennedy Space Center
The John F. Kennedy Space Center is located on Merrit Island and is NASA's spaceport. Ever since the 1960s, the USA's manned space flights have all taken off from here; be it the Apollo missions, the space shuttles, or most recently the Crew Dragon rocket from SpaceX - a company led by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. During a visit, you can learn more about the history of space travel and the development of NASA.
Orlando Theme Parks
Orlando is just over an hour's drive from Tampa and is home to some of the world's most famous theme parks. Whether it's Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, Harry Potter, or shopping at the Kwik-E-Mart like the Simpsons – the theme park mecca of Orlando takes you into unique and imaginary worlds.
Sanibel & Captiva Island
Sanibel Island has a charm of its own. Here, the heights of buildings must not exceed those of palm trees. This leads to a beautiful and harmonious townscape. Moreover, the island has the largest mussel deposit in the USA and hence, you can find them in masses and in all shapes and forms on the beaches. Captiva Island was part of Sanibel until a hurricane created a channel and separated the two places .
Diving in Florida
Florida is also a good place for divers. The Florida Keys are home to the only coral reef on the North American continent and the third largest in the world. There are numerous wrecks along the Keys that can be explored and some of the most beautiful lie in the area of Key Largo. The highlight of every diving trip in Florida are the odd-looking manatees which can sometimes be observed swimming around in groups of over a hundred animals.
Florida Keys
Tropical islands as far as the eye can see; a road trip along the extraordinary Oversea Highway of the famous island chain is a must for anyone who loves the sea and can't get enough of the Caribbean flair. Highlights of the Keys include Key Largo, Islamorada, and Key West. Islamorada is a paradise for anglers and fish lovers. Once you reach the end of the island chain in Key West, paradise awaits you: white sandy beaches, azure waters, and an extremely romantic atmosphere.
CHAMPA Bay
Tampa Bay is a city of champions. In the 2020 football season, the best football player of all time, Quarterback Tom Brady, led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to win the LV Superbowl as the first team to win in their home stadium. It doesn’t stop there; the ice-hockey team, the Tampa Bay Lighting, set records as one of eight National Hockey League teams to win back-to-back championship titles with Stanely Cup wins in 2020 and 2021. The Major League Baseball team, the Tampa Bay Rays, have also made their mark with Division titles in 2020 and 2021.
