Las Vegas sign

Fabulous from the Beginning

In Las Vegas, modesty is considered a sin. This is clear from the sign that welcomes you as you enter the city. Emblazoned with ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ and surrounded by lights and a red star, this design classic is a must-have photo for everyone! After all, this sign recounts the early beginnings of the gambling city, long before it had sky scrapers. It has been beckoning motorists on West Russell Road since 1959. Today you’ll find parking facilities for selfie enthusiasts, and miniature versions of the sign are among the most popular souvenir items.

Radiant: The Water Show at Bellagio

The water show at the Bellagio is absolutely legendary. The luxury hotel hosts the show every day – free of charge and open to all – at the hotel’s own lake on the Las Vegas Strip. Thousands of fountains put on a water ballet, sometimes swaying to opera classics, other times to the lively rhythms of star DJ Tiësto. A visit is especially worthwhile during the ‘blue hour’, when the sun slowly sinks over the desert city. Spotlights illuminate the fountains making them appear to be flames flickering over the lake. Daily from 3 pm to midnight, Saturday from 12 pm, Sundays from 11 am. Daytime hours every 30 minutes, from 7 pm every 15 minutes.

Colourful High-flying Spectacle

Casinos, magic shows, an artificial volcano – Las Vegas is one huge amusement park. Of course, a Ferris wheel is an absolute must: With its 167 metres, the High Roller at The Linq on the strip is the second highest Ferris wheel in the world. Even from below it is a magical sight, with over 2,000 LED lights in a multitude of colours. A ride on this spectacular wheel takes approximately 30 minutes. The hustle and bustle on the streets, the famous hotel towers, and the surrounding mountains of Nevada – enjoy all of this at your leisure, with a drink in your hand, from one of the comfortable cabins.

A Tribute to the ‘City of Lights’

Why not just recreate a European city and transplant it to Las Vegas? Not an unusual idea at all for the city’s hotel giants who are always trying to outdo each other with incredible attractions. The Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino boasts a hall of mirrors from Versailles, a smaller version of the Arch du Triumph, and the Eiffel Tower. Although the latter is only about half the size of the original, it still offers a magnificent view from its observation deck. The tower is a sight to behold every evening from sunset to midnight when a brilliant light show takes place.

Driven to the Extreme

Ready for another world record? The Stratosphere Tower, with its 350 metres, is the highest free-standing observation tower in the world. The white structure belongs to The Strat Hotel, and its upper floors are peppered with attractions, including a restaurant that turns its guests’ heads: The Top of the World rotates once around on its own axis within an hour, presenting dazzling Las Vegas from all sides. The floors above hide half an amusement park! If this isn’t enough adrenaline for you, you can catapult yourself up the tower mast on the Big Shot, simulate a free fall in the X-Scream, ride the Insanity over the abyss, or dare to bungee jump.
