Summary of travel insurances

Travel Protection

For newly concluded policies, we have included in our partner Allianz Travel Travel Protection Package benefits for certain situations regarding illness with an epidemic or pandemic disease such as Covid-19. The full terms and conditions of insurance can be found at General conditions Cancellation Cost, but please note the following points regarding Covid-19:

 

 

  • Emergency medical transport & repatriation from abroad if you fall ill with Covid-19 while travelling abroad.
  • Trip cancellation costs if you, a travelling companion, or a close non-travelling relative is diagnosed with COVID-19 before the planned date of departure.
  • Trip cancellation costs if you fail a Covid-19 test or medical examination at the airport and as a result have to abandon your trip.
  • Costs incurred for non-reimbursable travel expenses due to a trip curtailment and additional travel costs for your return to your country of residence if you, the person travelling with you or a close non-travelling person is diagnosed with Covid-19 during your trip abroad.
  • Assumption of the additional costs up to a total of CHF 1,500 per insured person for unforeseen expenses (taxi fees, accommodation, telephone costs, etc.) if they are abroad and test positive for Covid-19, and as a result are placed under an individually ordered necessary quarantine abroad.
  • Costs incurred as a result of your missed connections during the trip (less any refunds you receive for unused travel and accommodation arrangements) to continue your pre-booked trip if it is interrupted because you or the person travelling with you are ill with Covid-19 or are placed under individual, ordered quarantine due to suspected infection with Covid-19.
  • Assistance in making medical appointments, booking hotel accommodation, and/or flying back to your country of residence if you are refused boarding or entry due to fever or other health problems.
  • Advice from our Medical Assistance should you feel ill during your trip abroad.

  • Costs for outpatient or inpatient treatment are not covered.
  • Any costs due to displeasure, change of plans or travel anxiety caused by Covid-19.
  • Any costs due to travel warnings relating to an epidemic/pandemic issued by governments, health authorities or the World Health Organisation by or for the country of destination or origin.
  • Cancellation or curtailment of travel due to border closures, quarantine measures on entry and exit or other government regulations.
  • Trip cancellation where an airline has offered a voucher or credit as reimbursement for the cancellation.
  • Any expenses if you have travelled contrary to the advice of a doctor or acted in a manner contrary to the advice of a doctor.
  • Cost of a quarantine that is mandatory for all arriving passengers or a quarantine requirement for passengers from a specific country/region.
  • Failure to comply with official recommendations - If you travel contrary to the recommendations of the government of your home country in connection with an epidemic/pandemic or contrary to the recommendations of the local authorities at the travel destination.
