Getting there

With five gondolas and chairlifts of the “Pizolbahnen” on offer, getting to and around in the stunning Pizol region feels very much like flying! Located just five minutes from the motorway, the base stations of Wangs and Bad Ragaz are also easy to reach by public transport.

Experience

The Pizol region boasts more than 60 miles (100 km) of hiking trails, ranging from the family-friendly Heidi trail to the challenging 5-Lake hike that takes five hours to complete. There is also plenty on offer for sports aficionados, including the Twärchamm crag and mountain bike tracks to suit all levels of difficulty. Bike transport up to the Pizol region is at an additional cost.

Walk to the Edelweiss bench

Beautifully located on the shore of Lake Suntigweid, the Edelweiss bench is less than a thirty-minute walk from the Pardiel mountain station.

Best view

The seemingly infinite vistas of the St. Galler Rhine valley –stretching from the Churfirsten mountain range to Lake Constance‒ are simply breathtaking and almost like looking out of an aircraft window!

Tip

The “Edelweiss Trail” leads from the Pardiel mountain station past the Edelweiss bench and Lake Suntigweid to the Wissi Stei lookout point at the Schwamm mountain station. Set up as a circular path and lined with Edelweiss flowers, the visitors’ knowledge about the “queen of alpine flowers” is tested at every information point along the way. The path takes about three hours to complete.

Restaurant / Hotel

The Pardiel mountain guesthouse is the ideal starting point for an exciting day in the Pizol region. On select days, guests can enjoy a special “Gondola Dinner” with delicious food served at lofty heights on each of the three gondola rides from Bad Ragaz to Pardiel.
