Covid-19 entry restrictions are not aligned and differ from country to country and can change at short notice. Please refer to the Travel Hotline information for Covid-19 travel information further down this page if you have any questions regarding entry.

As planning is still dependent on the entry restrictions of the respective countries, the flight schedule is always adjusted promptly to the current Covid-19 developments. To ensure that your journey can still be planned without worry, Edelweiss continues to guarantee flexible and free rebooking options.

Entry regulations into Switzerland

From 2nd May 2022, the requirement to provide proof of COVID 19 documents will be lifted for all travellers entering Switzerland. Regular entry and visa requirements must still be checked. Transit passengers must continue to check the entry requirements of the respective destination country.;;;;;; In addition, the mask requirement will be waived on all flights to Zurich from 3rd May 2022.

Below you will find the current entry regulations and information on the obligation to wear masks for those countries that will be flown to in the next four weeks (subject to change). We are guided here by the regulations of the IATA. Please note that the information is not exhaustive. The regulations of the respective countries can also be changed and adapted at any time.

Below you will find the current entry requirements for Canada. These apply to persons who are resident in Switzerland and/or have Swiss citizenship.

1. all travellers over 18 years of age must have been fully vaccinated for at least 15 days.

Exceptions to the vaccination requirement are: Citizens and permanent residents of Canada; children under 18 years of age travelling with their vaccinated parent/guardian; persons who meet the conditions at the following link.

2. Travellers aged 5 years and above must present a negative PCR or AntiGen test result. The PCR test must be carried out no longer than 72 hours and the AntiGen test no longer than one day before departure.

Exceptions to the testing requirement are: Persons who have been fully vaccinated for at least 15 days; children under 5 years of age; children between 5 and 11 years of age travelling with their fully vaccinated parents; travellers with a positive PCR test result whose sampling date is at least 10 and at most 180 days ago.

3. All travellers must submit their information (among other things, about their vaccination status) electronically, at most 72 hours before arrival, through the ArriveCAN app or via the corresponding website (see links below). Please note that you must be able to present an ArriveCAN receipt before boarding.

4. Please note that Covid-19 tests are occasionally carried out on arrival in Canada.

5. Information on the obligation to wear a mask: Please note that masks are compulsory on board Edelweiss for the outward & return flight as well as when disembarking the aircraft. However, a mask does not have to be worn in the airport area in Canada.

Covid-19 FAQ for Tourists

Below you will find the current entry requirements for Mauritius. These are valid for travellers who are resident in Switzerland and/or have Swiss citizenship.

The "Mauritius All-in-one Travel Form" must be filled out online (see link below) at most 72 hours before departure. At the end of the process, please print out the PDF document, sign it properly and carry it with you during your flight.

Below you will find the current entry requirements for Morocco. These are valid for travellers who are resident in Switzerland and/or have Swiss citizenship.

1. All travellers must present either a vaccination certificate (fully vaccinated for at least 2 weeks and a maximum of 4 months, with booster vaccination there is no validity limit) OR a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours prior to departure. The test result must be in English, French or Arabic. This also applies to recovered persons. Please note that AntiGen test results will not be accepted.

Exceptions are: children under 12 years of age.

1. All travellers are required to present a negative PCR or AntiGen test result from an accredited laboratory. The PCR sample must have been taken no more than 72 hours and the AntiGen sample no more than 24 hours before departure. Recovered travellers must have proof of COVID-19 recovery and completed isolation. It is a prerequisite that the travellers had the infection 2 to 12 weeks before the date of departure and they can show a negative antiGen test result for entry.

Exceptions to the testing requirement: Children under 12 years of age; Fully vaccinated persons (persons 18 years of age and older must also have received the booster vaccination if they received their last vaccination more than 6 months ago; children between 12 and 18 years of age are considered fully vaccinated even without booster vaccination).

2. All travellers must have valid travel and health insurance. This must cover Covid-19 related quarantine, isolation or treatment.

3. All travellers must have a valid Health Travel Authorisation (HTA) to enter the country. Register for this via https://seychelles.govtas.com. You must provide your negative PCR test result or your evidence of recent Covid-19 infection (positive test result and certificate of completion of isolation or certificate of recovery) and accommodation details.

Andalusia: Free complementary Covid-19 insurance

All foreign travellers (non-residents in Andalusia) travelling to the Autonomous Region of Andalusia until 30 June 2022 and lodging in an officially recognised establishment with an irrefutable booking will be offered complementary travel insurance by Europ Assistance. In addition to the travellers' existing insurance, it is intended to provide cover for emergency medical expenses in the event of a Covid-19 illness. The supplementary insurance includes the guarantee of health care, repatriation, and indemnity due to an extension of stay as a result of a Covid-19 illness. It is not necessary to contract the insurance. If you meet all the requirements you are automatically insured.

During your holidays in Galicia, you are covered by the Covid-19 travel insurance. You do not need to to apply. All you have to do is staying in a regulated establishment in Galicia and the insurance will be activated automatically.

Canary Islands: Free Covid-19 insurance

Canary Islands Tourism, in collaboration with AXA Spain, is offering a collective, untitled insurance to all foreign and local tourists visiting the archipelago. The insurance covers emergency medical expenses and hospitalisation resulting from infection with Covid-19. In addition, the transport or medical repatriation of sick persons due to Covid-19 is included as well as the costs for a necessary longer stay in a hotel of the insured person (including in the case of a quarantine or imposed curfew) up to a maximum amount of EUR 5,000 and a maximum of 15 days. The insurance conditions of the Canary Islands and their partner AXA Spain are authoritative.

Below you will find the current entry requirements for Tanzania. These apply to persons who are resident in Switzerland and/or have Swiss citizenship.

All travellers must be fully vaccinated or have a negative PCR or AntiGen test result. COVID-19 test must not have taken place more than 72h prior to departure.

Exceptions are:Children under 6 years.

Information on the obligation to wear a mask: Please note that masks are not compulsory on board for the outward & return flight. A mask must only be worn when disembarking the aircraft. However, a mask does not have to be worn in the rest of the airport area.

Below you will find the current entry requirements for Tunisia. These are valid for travellers who are resident in Switzerland and/or have Swiss citizenship.

1. All travellers must present a negative PCR or AntiGen test result upon entry. The PCR test sample must have been taken no more than 48h before departure and the AntiGen test sample must have been taken no more than 24h before departure. Please note that the test results must be in either Arabic, English or French. Passengers travelling with a negative PCR or AntiGen test result, must self-isolate during 5 days after arrival.

Exceptions to the testing requirement are: Children under 18 years of age; travellers who can show that they have been fully vaccinated at least 7 days before arrival (for the Janssen vaccine 28 days before arrival applies).

2. Information on the obligation to wear a mask: Please note that masks are not compulsory on board of Edelweiss (valid for the outbound & return flight). However, a mask must be worn in Tunisia when disembarking the aircraft, in the airport area and during boarding for the flight to Zurich.

Below you will find the current entry requirements for the USA. These apply to persons who are resident in Switzerland and/or have Swiss citizenship.

1. All travellers over the age of 18 must be able to prove that they have been fully vaccinated for at least 2 weeks by presenting their vaccination certificate when entering the country.

Exceptions are: Children younger than 18 years; US nationals or residents; US military personnel and their family members; Sea Crew members travelling on a C1/D visa; Diplomatic and Official Foreign Government Travel; passengers with a medical statement of contraindication; Humanitarian or Emergency Exception as determined by CDS, must be accompanied by an official governmental letter; holders of B1/B2 visa (non-immigrant) and citizens from a country with limited availability of COVID-19 vaccines as determined by CDC; passengers holding a NIE issued by the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Transportation, the Secretary of Homeland Security or their designees only.

Important for recovering travellers: Even convalescent persons must be able to show that they have been fully vaccinated for at least 2 weeks. You are only considered fully vaccinated if you have received both doses of a vaccine that normally requires two doses (e.g. Moderna/Pfizer). Convalescents who have received only one dose of such a vaccine are not considered fully vaccinated. In addition, the positive test result, based on a sample taken no more than 90 days before departure, must be presented. In addition, a medical letter is required giving the traveller medical clearance for the flight (fit-to-fly certificate).

Hotline for Covid-19 travel information

The Checkport call centre provides travellers in Switzerland with telephone information on the applicable Covid-19 entry requirements in transit and destination countries. Specially trained experts provide advice in German, French and English via the chargeable number 0900 734 736 (CHF 2.50/minute) daily from 8 AM to 6 PM (including public holidays). For data protection reasons, calls are not recorded and personal data is not stored.

Health Declaration Card

Passengers travelling to some Edelweiss destinations must complete a separate form ("Health Declaration Card"). This is either already distributed in the aircraft or at the destination airport.
