Montaña Blanca – the white volcano of Lanzarote

The Montaña Blanca is impressive with its bright, almost white colouration created by the volcanic rocks. The climb is moderate at 400 metres of altitude and offers a fantastic view of the surrounding landscape. Hiking fans can explore the interesting flora and fauna of the wine-growing area of La Geria. A panoramic view over all of Lanzarote awaits you at the top. A volcano excursion is especially worthwhile at sunrise or sunset, when the whole region is flooded in magical red light.

On the trail of wine culture: La Geria

La Geria is a wine-growing region famous for its volcanic soils and distinctive cultivation methods. Visitors can hike through the vineyards and view the typical vines planted in the lava sand. Local bodegas offer wine samplings where you can taste the local wines. The landscape is characterised by a charming contrast of colours between the barren, black sandy landscape and the green vines. This makes La Geria a true delight for lovers of wine and nature.

Volcanic excursion to Lanzarote’s Montaña Colorada

Montaña Colorada is famous for its “lava bomb”, a huge boulder that was ejected from the volcano during an eruption. The volcano tour takes you through one of Lanzarote’s most fascinating lava landscapes that shimmers in a variety of reddish tones. Visitors can see the lava bomb up close and sense the power of the volcanic rock. This approximately one-hour hike is also suitable for families with children. Through the crater: the Volcán el Cuervo

The Volcán El Cuervo is one of the few volcanoes in Lanzarote where you can hike right through the crater. The well-marked path leads through a lava landscape and ends inside the crater. Visitors can see the various layers of rock and volcanic activity up close here. The hike is easy, so you can take your children with you on this adventure tour. Easy climb to Montaña Roja

Montaña Roja, the red mountain, is a distinctive volcano that towers almost 200 metres above the landscape. The five-kilometre ascent is easy, offering a splendid and vast, sweeping view of the coast and sea. Visitors can circle the crater at the top and try different viewpoints. The surrounding area is ideal for hiking and offers plenty of photo opportunities. If weather conditions are clear, you can even spot some of Lanzarote’s neighbouring islands from the summit of the volcano.

Volcán de la Corona: survey Lanzarote from the volcano

The Volcán de la Corona is one of the tallest volcanoes in Lanzarote. The one-hour climb is challenging because of its narrow and very steep paths, but the effort is rewarded with a magnificent 360-degree view over the entire island. At the top you can choose a circular path around the crater, and in clear weather you can even see the neighbouring islands. The hike takes you through an extremely varied landscape with lava fields and lush vegetation.

A day trip to Montaña Clara

Montaña Clara is a small, uninhabited volcanic island that juts 250 metres from the sea and is ideal for a day trip. The name means “bright mountain”, a suitable description of the rock. The island is famous for its high cliffs and abundant birdlife, and is home to fish eagles, Eleonora’s falcons and shearwaters. Visitors can reach the island by boat and explore its nature. It has numerous well-signed hiking trails that lead to attractive viewpoints.

Los Ajaches: volcanoes in south-east Lanzarote

Los Ajaches is a mountain massif ideal for hiking and exploring. The landscape is characterised by deep gorges and rock formations that date back more than a million years, as well as abundant flora and fauna. Numerous hiking trails lead through the volcanic area, past small goat farms, with frequent spectacular views of the coastline and sea. The region is also known for its archaeological sites that provide insights into the history of the indigenous people.
