Coves, Mountains, Party Time

There’s no denying: Mallorca is famous for partying round the clock. But with stunning beaches and a plethora of activities on offer, this Mediterranean island is so much more than a partying haven.

With agreeable year-round temperatures, negligible rainfall in summer and perfect bathing conditions, Mallorca is widely considered a dream destination. The island capital of Palma is as diverse as the island itself. Its most famous landmark is the Gothic cathedral La Seu.

From Playa El Arenal to Cape Formentor

Playa El Arenal, near Palma, is where the party’s at. This stretch of beach lined by bars, restaurants and discotheques, such as Balneari 6 and Oberbayern, is where German crooners come to perform their “Ballerman” hits. That said, since Playa El Arenal is generously sized and shelves gently into the sea, it also attracts families with children.

The island is speckled with a host of attractive towns and villages. The coastal town of Sollér near Palma is especially popular among hikers and bikers who appreciate the mountainous terrain. Cala Millor (which means “better cove”) on the east coast is an obvious tourist magnet. The typical fishing village of Cala Ratjada in Mallorca’s northeast is popular for its harbour and the splendid beaches Cala Gat and Cala Agulla. A visit to the Formentor peninsula with its pretty coves and steep cliffs should not be missed. Cape Formentor is Mallorca’s northernmost point.

An island for all tastes

Situated in Mallorca’s south, the village of Paguera is eager to make the shift from mass tourism to a quieter, more laid-back holiday ambience. Cala Pi features a romantic fjord-like bay with crystal-clear water that has cut its way into the interior of the island. Set against a backdrop of steep cliffs and pristine nature, it is a truly spectacular sight.;;; ;;; Mallorca is the perfect island for sun worshippers, kite-surfers, cyclists, golfers, tennis players (tennis champion Rafael Nadal is a native of Mallorca), cliff climbers and balloonists. Simply put: Mallorca has something for everyone.
