See and be seen in a vintage convertible
On that note, hardly anything beats getting to know the Cuban capital of Havana in a legendary vintage convertible car: the historic city centre, the Malecón esplanade or Morro Castle from where visitors can enjoy superb vistas. For cigar aficionados holidaying in Cuba, a visit to a cigar factory is a must-do! Watch how the cigars are rolled by hand in the Partagás or the Corona factory. Havana’s legendary music clubs, which include the world-famous Buena Vista Social Club, are another quasi compulsory highlight. Don’t hesitate to ask the locals for music club recommendations or where to perfect your Salsa dancing. ;;;
In sum, it’s the ideal beach holiday choice. Havana’s city beaches are primarily about “seeing and being seen“. For those who prefer something more tranquil, there are the beaches outside the city to relish. Luxurious hotel complexes can be found in Varadero which is also Cuba’s most popular beach resort. The Cayo islands of Cayo Largo, Cayo Santa Maria and Cayo Coco bedazzle visitors with their stunning powdery-white beaches, turquoise lagoons and crystal-clear waters.
Action, sound and smoke
Cuba’s west coast is a diver’s paradise. Typical Caribbean coral reefs and mangrove forests offer a great variety of marine life, including more than 100 different species of shark. The island is also worth exploring on foot or by bicycle. Sailing trips and cruises around the island are another popular draw, including detours to neighbouring islands such as Jamaica. And in the evening, as the sun sets into the sea, just picture yourself with a glass of rum and a cigar in hand, with salsa music playing in the background!
Please note that all Edelweiss flights are handled in Terminal 2 at Havana Airport.
