A glass cube glitters in the treetops. A few steps further on: a UFO, floating in the branches. What hangs here between the pine trees belongs to the Tree Hotel. The tree houses are located about an hour from Luleå. Each of the seven hotel rooms, which are among the most unusual accommodations in Europe, is designed differently. The main building (on the ground) offers a reception, restaurant and a small sauna.
Floating tranquillity at the Arctic Bath Hotel
In the middle of the Lule älv river, a round wooden structure appears to float weightlessly. Surrounded by ice or water, depending on the season, this is the wellness area of the Arctic Bath with its open cold water pool. Guests staying at the hotel live in floating cabins with access to the river or in elevated rooms on the riverbank. The hotel is about an hour's drive from Luleå.

The main building houses a restaurant and bar, where you can sit by the fireplace and watch the snow fall outside and the Northern Lights cover the sky.

High ceilings, stone floors, chandeliers: for over a hundred years, the Elite Stadshotellet has been welcoming guests to its French Renaissance-style building. It is located directly on the promenade, overlooking the Gulf of Bothnia. The small wellness area offers peace and quiet. Breakfast is served in the Kitchen & Table restaurant, and in the evening, Nordic dishes – with a twist – are on the menu.
Arctic getaway at the Arctic Retreat
The Arctic Retreat is located among tall birch trees on the Råne River, about an hour's drive from Luleå. Three guest cabins, a main lodge with a restaurant, a separate lounge and a sauna are spread out across the clearing. In winter, guests can step straight out of the hot tub into the snow. In summer, the ice gives way to water, making the valley the perfect place for kayaking and fishing trips.
