Edelweiss exceeds pre-crisis level in July 2022

For the first time, over 300,000 guests flew with Edelweiss in one month. Seat load factor again well above 80%. Positive trend also for autumn and winter.

The desire to travel and the need for holidays at the most beautiful holiday destinations in the world is back after the Corona pandemic. Passenger numbers at Edelweiss in July 2022 exceed pre-crisis levels and are even at a new high. Never before in the company's history have so many guests flown in one month as last month. In July 2022, Edelweiss carried 304,039 passengers. This represents an increase of 3% compared to July 2019, with seat occupancy remaining at 84%. At the same time, the number of flights operated increased by 16%.

Holiday destinations in North America and Spain most popular in July

The number of holiday destinations offered increased by 30% to 74 dream destinations worldwide in summer 2022 compared to summer 2019. Holiday destinations in the USA, Canada and the Dominican Republic were particularly popular with Edelweiss guests on long-haul routes this July. On short and medium-haul routes, holiday destinations in Spain, Greece and Italy were the most popular.

Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss, is delighted with this successful start to the current summer season: "Our guests are feeling the desire to travel again and are once again placing their trust in us after the uncertain pandemic period. We are very happy about the above-average positive customer feedback. This has certainly been helped by the fact that Edelweiss is once again a reliable partner for holiday travellers this summer."

Bookings for autumn and winter developing well

The positive travel trend continues for the autumn holidays and the coming winter season. Bookings for the coming months are developing positively, as expected. Demand is particularly high on long-haul routes to holiday destinations in Tanzania, South Africa, the Maldives and Mauritius. On medium-haul routes, the most popular destinations are in Egypt and the Canary Islands.
