Switching off means relaxing in safety

Electronic devices may interfere with our on-board equipment. For the sake of complete safety, we apply the following rule: Electronic devices and mobile phones must either be set to flight mode or switched off during take-off, while cruising, when landing and also when taxiing until the aircraft gets to the stand. Any devices that transmit and/or receive communications that do not have a flight mode must remain switched off for the entire duration of the flight. Please remember to switch these devices off at the latest as soon as you board.

Current regulations regarding electronic devices:

  • Please hold small portable devices (tablets, e-readers and mobile phones) securely in your hand while taxiing, during take-off and landing. Alternatively, stow them away safely.
  • Larger portable devices (laptops, notebooks or other foldable devices) must be stowed away safely while taxiing, during take-off and landing.
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 7: Edelweiss extends its ban that prohibits the smartphone Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on board to all Edelweiss flights with immediate effect. The phone must not be carried on board, hand baggage or checked baggage. So all our passengers are requested not to take the phone on board. In other case boarding will be denied. This procedure is applied by all carriers within the Lufthansa Group (incl. SWISS).

Not a problem: your own headphones

Of course, you are welcome to use your personal headphones (wired) during the entire flight. However, please remove them for our safety briefing. It is important to us that our passengers all know what to do in the event of an emergency. This is for everyone's safety. Failure to comply with these rules may be reported to the authorities. Thank you for your co-operation. If you would like to know more, further information is available here:
