Our insider tip for golfing in Seville is the Real Club Pineda de Sevilla. Considered one of the best in Europe, this true golf course gem was designed by former European Tour winner Jose Maria Olazabal in 1991. Despite the flat terrain, the course is both varied and challenging. The facility extends to almost 200 acres and features several hills at the tee and beyond the fairways, bunkers, four lakes and some 3000 trees.
Golf in Seville
Seville is the capital of the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain and the “cradle of flamenco”, which is chiefly practiced in the Triana neighbourhood. The most significant landmarks of the city include the artful Alcázar palace, built under the rule of the Moorish Almohad dynasty, and the “Plaza de toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballeria de Sevilla” bullring that dates back to the eighteenth century. The Gothic-style Seville Cathedral houses Christopher Columbus’ tomb and the Giralda, a bell tower that was once a minaret. The region of Seville is home to seven golf courses with varying difficulty levels.
Real Club Pineda de Sevilla
The Royal Club of Pineda de Sevilla is an 18-hole golf course set on a fairly flat terrain. After a challenging first hole with a dogleg, the remaining course is a real joy to play. Apart from a gentle slope down to the river, the course is fairly flat. Pine and palm trees separate the broad fairways, and the small and flat greens are framed by water hazards.
Besides golf, the 200 acre facility features tennis courses, a swimming pool and other opportunities for sports. Founded in 1940, originally as a horse riding club, other sports activities have been added to the facility over the course of the past three decades.

Temperatures range from hot to very hot between mid-May and August, but are very moderate and pleasant throughout the rest of the year. The golf courses are irrigated daily and in good to excellent condition all year round.
Golf packages, combined with accommodation, are a good choice for golfers planning to play several rounds. Ask your travel agent or get in touch with the relevant golf club.
If you intend to play on various golf courses, a rental car is recommended. Make sure you ask your hotel in advance about parking spaces, as the centre of Seville offers very limited parking.
