Edelweiss recommendation

Northern Sardinia is home to some of the finest golf courses in Italy and Europe, and the Pevero Club is one of the highlights. The golf courses in Sardinia are not overly busy, so tee times can mostly be booked at short notice regardless of time of year. Those eager to keep their scores low are recommended to consult the birdie book beforehand – especially in the Pevero Golf Club with its numerous blind greens.

Golfing in Olbia (Sardinia)

Golf history

Golf was introduced in Sardinia in the late 1960s, when British, US and Saudi investors discovered the island. The port town of Olbia in northern Sardinia is the gateway for travel to the famous “Costa Smeralda” (Emerald Coast).

Pevero Golf Club

The Pevero Golf Club in Porto Cervo (less than 13 miles from Olbia) features an 18-hole championship course (par 72) that is 6679 yards (6107 m) long - and technically demanding!

The multifaceted track is set in a beautiful landscape with wind-eroded rocks, small natural lakes and juniper, myrtle and strawberry trees that fill the air with a delightfully fresh scent, affording it a magical sense of place.

The world-famous Pevero Golf Club served as the venue for the Italian Open in 1978. The views from the 16th hole (“James Bond hole“) are simply stunning. The wide fairways and the frequent changes of direction make the course interesting to play, not to forget the wind factor that adds to the challenge of this golfing experience. The course is at its busiest in the summer holidays (July & August). It is thus advisable to reserve your tee times in the golf course booking office during that period.

Golf Club Puntaldia

Surrounded by a host of charming bays and featuring lovely views of Tavolara Island, the Golf Club Puntaldia in San Teodoro is set in a dazzling location on the Mediterranean coast. The 9-hole golf course (par 30) spans 3668 yards (3354 m). The tee-offs are precision-demanding and offer an exciting challenge for golfers of all levels of play.
