And then there’s Split‘s lavish number of splendid beaches, of which Bacvice is the most popular. Scuba divers will also feel at home with plenty of diving centres in the vicinity. The hinterland is best explored on foot or by jeep or quad safari. Krka National Park contains some beautiful waterfalls and is a particularly popular hiking spot.
Croatia features some lovely campsites, and many have comfortable mobile homes for rental. If time permits, it is worth hiring a car and driving along the Adriatic coast. The gorgeously set town of Dubrovnik, also known as the Pearl of the Adriatic Sea, is roughly three hours’ drive from Split. Situated at the foot of the Biokovo mountain range, the picturesque coastal town of Makarska is less than an hour’s drive from Split and offers some spellbinding countryside.
