Surf paradise with a family bonus
Blessed with great winds, Costa Calma is a hotspot for kitesurfing and home to cute beach bars that offer some welcome post-water sports relaxation. The bay with its gently shelving beach also delights families with children as does the fine sanded Playa de Esquinzo close by. More remote and less frequented, El Salmo is the ideal beach for those seeking peace and tranquillity. A visit to Oasis Park is a great way to unwind after a day at the beach. The park pampers visitors with a rich variety of flora and fauna. Though far more barren, the expansive drifting sand dunes of Corralejo are also well worth a visit. This is where Fuerteventura’s proximity to Africa becomes almost tangible.
Excursions to the underwater world
Scuba divers and snorkelers certainly won’t miss out on Fuerteventura. Moray eels, rays and large shoals of sardines or brown meagres are amply represented and promise an unforgettable experience. The fauna displayed in the underwater world is both diverse and colourful. During the summer months, there’s even a chance of diving with whales. Diving schools offer both beginner and advanced courses. In other words: there’s an adventure to be had for everyone!
But undoubtedly the star performers on Fuerteventura are the sea, constantly changing colour between turquoise and deepest blue, the near endless beaches, the little coastal villages and the warm climate. They say that when you have been here once, you will either never return, or you'll keep coming back again and again…
