A Place to Discover

Cape Town is synonymous not only with a rich flora and fauna, but also an abundant choice of things to see and do. Hardly any other city in the world offers such a perfect blend of fun, excitement and adventure.

The residents of Cape Town will occasionally joke that they spend all day “driving around that mountain“. Table Mountain, the city’s landmark, peaks at 3562 feet (1086 m) and affords spectacular panoramic views of the city with its lovely beaches and green spaces.

Really big on animals

It is not uncommon to encounter animals, such as antelopes, even in the city centre. A colony of African penguins reside on Boulders Beach which is best visited en route to the Cape of Good Hope. The Cape is one of South Africa’s most well-known attractions and home to chacma baboons. South Africa also boasts eighteen national parks, including the famous Kruger National Park, making it a top safari destination. Fans of large marine mammals will definitely want to visit Hermanus. This small seaside town situated 115 km east of Cape Town is where whale enthusiasts can watch these magnificent creatures as they frolic in the waters close to shore.

Mild winters and moderate summers

A drive along the Garden Route which features South Africa’s most beautiful coastlines is a must do. Another very recommendable trip is to Durban; thanks to the city’s subtropical climate, swimming in the Indian Ocean is possible all year round there.

Cape Town itself has an Atlantic climate which translates into moderately fluctuating temperatures. Winters in Cape Town are mild, and the summer heat is temperate. These climatic conditions are ideal for growing grapes. A connoisseur tour through the historic wine farms around Cape Town should thus not be missed. Anyone wanting to wine and dine in style can choose from a wide range of restaurants at the Victoria & Albert Waterfront. Views of Table Mountain are of course included!
