Bosco Gurin

Getting there

Situated in the Maggia Valley, Bosco Gurin is the highest village and the only German-speaking municipality in the canton of Ticino. The village is easy to reach by car or by bus from Cevio.

Experience

Bosco Gurin is not your typical Ticino village and largely inhabited by a Walser community whose ancestors came from the canton of Valais. The thematic Walser trail and the Walser museum provide extensive information about the history of the village.

Walk to the Edelweiss bench

A chairlift runs to the mid-line station Rossboda. The Edelweiss bench is a five-minute walk from there.

Best view

Breathtaking panoramic views of Passo Quadrella, Pizzo Bombögn, Grosshorn, Kleinhorn, Pizzo Stella and Ritzberg can be enjoyed from the Edelweiss bench.

Tip

Only about forty people live in Bosco Gurin all year round. When there, or when on a farmed alp, visitors should not miss the chance to try some delicious fresh mountain cheese.

Restaurant / Hotel

The “Ristorante Rossboda” is not far from the Edelweiss bench, though hikers are also recommended to stop for a bite in one of the alpine cabins.
