Edelweiss Air has appointed a new Chief Commercial Officer: Alain Chisari, currently Head of Alliances & Commercial Relations at Swiss International Air Lines. He will assume his new duties on 1 May. Chisari, who is 40, succeeds Rudolf Schumacher, who has been serving as Edelweiss Air’s CCO in an interim capacity since the beginning of this year. Schumacher will remain available to the company for various commercial projects.
“I am delighted that, in Alain Chisari, we have secured the services of such a proven tourist and air travel professional for this key executive position,” says Karl Kistler, CEO of Edelweiss Air. “After completing his education, Alain spent several years at the head office of the Kuoni travel corporation before moving to the airline sector, where he went on to serve American Airlines and Delta Air Lines in various capacities both in and outside Switzerland.”
Alain Chisari has been with SWISS since 2008. He joined the company as its Head of Leisure Sales Switzerland, in which capacity he was instrumental in transforming its Swiss leisure-travel sales (including integrating the corresponding activities of Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines). In February 2012 he moved to become Head of Alliances & Commercial Relations, where his achievements to date have included ensuring SWISS’s integration into the “J+” joint venture co-founded by Lufthansa and All Nippon Airways.
